The company is owned by Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, who is also a board member of its parent company Reliance Industries.
It is one of India’s biggest companies, with revenues of $2.1 billion in 2016.
Mia was launched in 1992 by Dr. Sharmila Desai, a dermatologist who was the first Indian woman to have plastic surgery in India.
It was then renamed as the Dr. Mia.
Today, the company has been a pioneer in cosmetic surgery in the country, offering high-end procedures to both genders.
Its surgery procedures range from cheek implants to face transplants and facelifts.
The company is also one of several that offer plastic surgery to patients under the age of 40.
In 2016, the India Cosmetic Surgery Council (ICSSC) gave the company the best-ever medical award for its plastic surgery surgery procedures.
“In recent years, the ICSSC has recognised Mia as one of top 10 plastic surgeons in the industry,” a statement said.
“The ICSSC recognizes the excellence and high-quality service of Dr. Ambani in all of his cosmetic surgeries.”
The Indian cosmetic surgery industry is estimated to be worth $4 billion annually, and the company said that Mia has more than 25,000 surgeries performed across its three facilities.
“The Icssc awards recognize the outstanding expertise of Dr Ambani and Mia as well as the dedication of its team members, including the medical director, dermatologist, nurse, and other staff,” it said.
Mama Mia, also known as Mia Palette, is owned and operated by Mukesh Mukherjee, the Chairman of Reliance Group, who also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the company.
Mamma Mia said in a statement that it had been a major part of its mission to give people confidence and beauty.
“Mammania’s services are focused on bringing the highest level of beauty and the most natural looking skin and hair,” it added.
According to the company, the average patient spends up to Rs 50,000 on cosmetic surgery and up to $10,000 for face and body treatments.
